Rally North Wales 2024

On Saturday 16th March we headed to the Dyfi complex north of Machynlleth for Rally North Wales. The beautiful blue skies which greeted us when we arrived in Gartheiniog were soon replaced with the usual dark grey skies and rain we’re accustomed to in the Welsh forests!

The event was the second round of the British Historic Championship and the opening round of the Welsh Championship, which saw three time event winners Matt Hirst and Declan Dear head the field in their Fiesta R5. A strong BHRC entry saw the Group A machine of George Lepley at Car 1 with a host of rapid RWD runners inside the top 10.

Predictably, it was Matt Hirst who took a relatively comfortable victory by well over 3 minutes, and Nick Elliott took the BHRC honours in the stunning Fiat 131 Abarth.
